Optimizing Your Site- Making it "Search Engine Friendly"
Topic 202

Introduction

One of the most frequent questions from our clients is how to get good placement or ranking on search engines. The answer always is how well you have built your site to make it search engine "friendly" and how well you market your website.

Search engines are built to provide relevant answers to a searcher's questions. People search the web looking for a solution to a problem; your goal as a website owner is to be the relevant solution to that problem for your business category.

Our role is to provide you with webhosting and the tools to build and maintain your website. Marketing and driving traffic to your site should be part of your business plan. While we can provide you with information on how search engines work and how to build a relevant site, implementing these suggestions is entirely up to you.

The principles and processes described here are the same ones used by Search Engine Optimization (SEO) companies that charge you a fee. The disadvantage of using a SEO company to optimize your site is that they do not know your business as well as you do. In addition, many companies will use a process for updating your site (meta tags) that cannot be used with our service.

BEFORE you contract with an SEO company, please contact us to verify that their services are compatible with your website.
